Can I Qualify for Social Security Disability?
If a disease, condition or disability limits or prevents you from employment, you may be eligible to receive government assistance in the form of Social Security Disability benefits, also known as “SSDI” or Title II benefits, provided you have an adequate work history. If you do not have enough work “quarters” to qualify for SSDI benefits you may qualify for Supplemental Security Income benefits known as “SSI” or Title XVI benefits. SSI benefits are available to individuals who do not have enough work quarters and meet certain income and assets criteria.
In most cases you must be suffering from a condition that has or will prevent you from being employed for at least 12 months, or a condition that will result in your death. While that might sound clear cut, the truth is that the process of securing disability benefits is usually a very lengthy and tedious process. Most SSD and SSI applicants are denied benefits when they first apply. You must then pursue several levels of appeals, but a denial at any one level or a past denial may not disqualify you from receiving benefits
How Can You Help If I Already Applied for Disability Benefits?
Tarpon Springs Social Security Disability Attorney Byron Broun may be able to help you get and keep the disability benefits you need. Our services cover a variety of common situations associated with benefits from the Social Security Administration.
The Appeals Process
The Social Security Administration denies many of the initial applications it receives for disability programs. If this happens to you, you will need to go through the appeals process and will likely have to appear in front of an Administrative Law Judge to argue why you deserve benefits.
Byron Broun can handle the appeals process for you by:
- Requesting your appeals hearing
- Preparing your case for the appeals hearing
- Collecting additional medical evidence or other proof of your claim
- Investigating why your claim was denied
- Representing you with Administrative Law Judge hearing
- Helping obtain the benefits you deserve
How we work
1. Free Consultation to Review Your Case
Contact Byron Broun for a free initial consultation at 727-343-3434 or via e-mail at SSAATTY@Gmail.com.
2. Taking Your Case
Attorney Byron Broun will take on your case and fight for your rights at any stage in the SSDI and SSI application process.
3. Filing the Application
In fact, Attorney Broun will assist you in filing an online application with Social Security at the beginning of the disability application process. Unfortunately, he cannot provide that service to SSI applicants
4. Appeal Process
Attorney Broun will assist you in filing the necessary appeals to get your case in front of an administrative law judge (ALJ). If your initial claim is denied, you have the right to appeal within 60 days of the receipt of the denial letter. The first appeal is called “Reconsideration.” Unfortunately, most claimants are typically denied at the reconsideration stage as well. If, and when, you are denied on reconsideration, we will then have 60 days to file a Request for Hearing before an Administrative Law Judge. Once the request for hearing has been filed, Mr. Broun will make sure that the relevant medical evidence to support your claim has been gathered, and will help you create the necessary legal strategy to effectively present your case.
5. Hearing Before a Judge
Once a claim has been placed in line for a hearing before an administrative law judge, Mr. Broun will meet with you to complete the final forms; send your treating physicians medical statements to complete regarding your physical and psychological impairments; write a brief in support of your claim based on the medical evidence and your doctor’s opinions; and prepare you for your anticipated testimony before the judge.

Social Security Disability Conditions

Why Hire Byron Broun?
With more than 20 years of experience handling Social Security Disability claims, Byron Broun is prepared to assist you with the type of competent and caring representation you deserve. Mr. Broun invites you to develop an actual relationship with your attorney instead of meeting your attorney for the first time on the day of your hearing. There has been a proliferation of large law firms and advocacy companies entering into the practice of Social Security disability law over the past few years because of the number of claimants seeking disability benefits. These firms do not possess the requisite experience necessary to furnish you with the representation you deserve. They inundate the media with advertising designed to create a volume business and convince you that they are best suited to properly present your claim.
Do not be fooled! Ask the attorney or representative how many claims they have handled and test their knowledge about your particular disability. Do not let slick advertising or a fancy pamphlet fool you into making the wrong decision when hiring someone to represent you in a matter as important to you as your disability claim.
